What Seat Is Suitable For My Vehicle?

The Recommended Seat For Your Vehicle Is:

Out With The Old & In With The New

The winner of the KAB Seating “Win a 600 Series Competition” was drawn on the 1st of October 2011. The winning entry is:

“My back is stuffed,
my arse is sore,
my hips, neck & also jaw.
Send a KAB 600 to my aid
to save me from an early grave”

from Mr. James Stove at J & M Compact Hire.

Mr. Stove’s Compactor still had the original KAB 515 seat that it was fitted with at manufacture in 2001. After 10 years of loyal service in a gruelling environment, the KAB 515 was certainly ready for retirement (Picture A).

Mr. Stove’s prize is a KAB 61K1. The seat was delivered and fitted to his Compactor (Picture B & Picture C) by KAB Seating. Shortly after fitment of the seat, Mr. Stove excitedly sat in his new “toy” (Picture D) and familiarised himself with all its controls. He commented on how comfortable the KAB 61K1 is, saying “wow, I won’t want to go home”. He also noted that the seat is “more comfortable than a brand new KAB 515”.

The KAB 61K1 certainly does offer a better ride as compared to the KAB 515. This is because it incorporates several additional features that have been specifically designed to deliver enhanced comfort in the most severe environments. Such features include: fore & aft isolators to reduce horizontal vibration, a ride indicator to encourage correct suspension adjustment, and a seat slide for customised seat length.

The KAB 61K1 puts the KAB 515 to further shame with its 170kg user weight rating, as compared to the 120kg user weight rating of the KAB 515.

The only similarities between Mr. Stove’s old KAB 515, and the new KAB 61K1 is that both seats incorporate standard ergonomic features like mechanical lumbar support, backrest recline adjustment, seat cushion tilt adjustment, fore & aft adjustment, and height adjustment.

There is no doubt that the KAB 61K1 has breathed a new lease of life into Mr. Stove. He’ll now be driving over bumps without wincing in pain and those never-ending, clock-watching days are a far gone memory.
